i think this is my favorite entry in the asmodeus and glassware collection. also i dont know if this is what you meant originally but is the device referring to sumire, from hospital cold? im very interested in the parallels between sumire/orcus and glassware/asmodeus, as well as connecting it to gracecon (i keep rereading it i love it so much) with the dynamic between scroll/mastema. its always these quasi-codependent relationships between women that you write about that im consistently fascinated by— the dependence and the resentment created as a byproduct of the love, sisterhood but in the way of twins that have grown twisted into each other within the underground womb specifically because of the the way that the darkness and damp earth there distort how its children grow(?) (idk if this metaphor makes sense but its the closest i can get to describing it. forgive me if i use language too close to your faith without being initiated myself.) anyway i know i havent said anything for months but i still read everything you write with fervor and interest and i appreciate your sharing it every week
regarding not saying anything: completely a-ok; some people have expressed an 'anxiety' to reply to the monthly letters but (unless explicitly requested not to) i write them without expectation of response or demand--they:re just meant as a return 'thank you' for the support, after all, not homework for the recipient;
regarding interconnectiveness: you really surprised me by bringing any of this up; on one hand i:m very aware i write essentially the same story and characters over-and-over (and it was explicitly done here, but meant to be tied into the draft of the 'isekai' i posted for january, the Maud chapter--both of these stories are shut-in a room and talking to a malignant object), and when i first saw your comment i had forgotten that 'Sumire' was what i named the girl from Hospital Cold, but (funnily enough) i had borrowed the name Sumire from a Narcissu game that had been on my mind while writing both of those stories, because i kept thinking of Sumire (Narcissu) while reading the book referenced in this story (Mycelium, Annette Weisser, particularly from the quote);
while writing this, too, i had been thinking about the first 'Haunted House' story and 'Hospital Cold' realizing that i had a fixation on characters adorning a costume and behaving theatrically (Sumire and Orcus on the stage; the narrator of Haunted House dressing up in a halloween costume and conducting her court; Glass and Asmodeus playing the prophet here);
what excites me about writing is connecting everything to the meta faith and is mostly what both prevents me from finishing anything, and what prompts me to write; ie: at the top is the bizarre outer narrative from the Zabuza and Haku BL fanfics, which in-turn is just a retelling of the fanfiction inside Gracecon that Shard writes; on a lower level is the spindling connection between the Warhammer draft, the Hate Corp story, an unposted draft about Founding Sister, the constantly rewritten isekai draft (Maud here is the Founding Sister), and the 'May Garden Readings' that are referenced in everything.
i like your analysis aster; i appreciate it a lot! thank you very much, chief (side note: i:m also using this reply to try out the 'also share to notes' feature at the bottom of these replies; i:m not actually sure what it does; apologies if it does something weird)
